Shopify Plus development
that uses what you're paying for.
Shopify Plus is a significant investment. The difference it makes depends on whether the platform's advanced features — B2B, Checkout Extensibility, Functions, automation — are actually implemented. That's the work.
Shopify Plus capabilities,
properly implemented
Checkout Extensibility
Custom checkout fields, UI extensions, post-purchase upsells, and B2B checkout flows — built on Shopify's new extensibility framework instead of the deprecated checkout.liquid.
Native B2B
Company accounts, company-specific catalogs, per-location pricing, net payment terms, and purchase order workflows — Shopify Plus's native B2B stack built to replace legacy wholesale apps.
Shopify Functions
Custom discount logic, shipping rate filtering, payment method customization, and cart transforms — running server-side in Shopify's infrastructure without API round-trips at checkout.
Advanced Automation
Shopify Flow custom connectors, multi-location order routing, customer lifecycle tagging, and inventory workflows — going beyond what Flow templates offer out of the box.
Multi-store Architecture
Shopify Markets for multi-region selling, international expansion with market-specific pricing, or separate Plus stores for B2B and DTC with shared backend logic.
ERP Integration at Scale
Order sync, inventory sync, and pricing sync between Shopify Plus and NetSuite, SAP, Dynamics, or Sage — built to handle high-volume merchant requirements reliably.
When Shopify Plus
is actually worth it.
Plus isn't right for every merchant. At $2,300/month, the ROI calculation is real. These are the situations where Plus is clearly justified — and I'll tell you honestly if your project doesn't meet that bar.
More questions answeredYou have B2B wholesale customers
Shopify Plus gives you native company accounts, location-specific pricing, and net payment terms. The B2B API is Plus-only.
You need checkout customization
Checkout Extensibility (the successor to checkout.liquid) is Plus-only for custom fields, conditional logic, and UI extensions.
You process high order volume
Plus removes transaction fees on third-party gateways, unlocks higher API rate limits, and gives you priority support.
You need advanced automation
Shopify Flow is available on all plans, but custom Flow connectors and triggers that go beyond templates are Plus territory.

Shopify Plus questions
What's the difference between Shopify and Shopify Plus?
Shopify Plus adds: native B2B (company accounts, catalogs, payment terms), Checkout Extensibility (custom checkout UI and logic), custom Shopify Functions across all APIs, higher API rate limits, multi-store management, dedicated support, and access to exclusive beta features. For standard DTC merchants, Plus often isn't necessary. For B2B, high-volume, or complex checkout requirements, Plus is usually the right call.
Is Shopify Plus worth the cost?
At $2,300/month, Plus makes sense when: transaction fees on third-party gateways exceed the Plus fee, you need B2B features that require Plus-only APIs, your checkout requires Extensibility features, or your order volume justifies the priority support. I'll give you an honest assessment during scoping — not a sales pitch for a more expensive tier.
Can you migrate us from checkout.liquid to Checkout Extensibility?
Yes. Shopify is deprecating checkout.liquid for Plus merchants in 2025. I audit your existing checkout.liquid customizations, identify which can be replicated with Checkout Extensibility UI Extensions and Functions, and build the replacement — minimizing regression risk.
Do you work with merchants upgrading to Plus from standard Shopify?
Yes — the upgrade itself is handled by Shopify. What I do is build the Plus-specific features you're upgrading for: B2B setup, checkout customization, Function implementations, or automation that justified the upgrade.
Can you build custom Shopify Plus themes?
Yes. Shopify Plus themes are built on the same Liquid/JSON framework as standard Shopify — the difference is checkout.liquid access (being deprecated) and the ability to customize the checkout more deeply via Extensibility. For the storefront theme itself, the same development approach applies.
